Dr. Judith Myers Avis offers a brilliant discussion
on the importance of considering gender within the process
of therapy. She brings together ideas and practices
from feminist and narrative therapy as a platform to
discuss issues like
- how gender narratives influence and shape the therapeutic
process;
- a deconstruction of popular marriage narratives
- and positive practice therapeutic positions psychologists
may consider when engaging in therapy.

Dr. Judith Myers Avis holds a PhD in Marriage
and family Therapy from Purdue and is a full Professor
at the University of Guelphs doctoral MFT program.
Judith is the author of many seminal texts on feminism
and psychotherapy. She was recently given an outstanding
achievement award by the AAMFT.
